Prerequisite: Kindergarten or Beginner

This class is designed to teach perfect crate manners, good recall skills, self-control, body awareness, clicker work, and self-confidence to young puppies and older beginners with little training. The first four weeks of class will cover our "Crate Games" series developed from Susan Garrett.
Each handler will be required to bring a wire or airline crate (hard-sided only) to class each week. The crate MUST be large enough for the dog to enter in and to sit upright WITHOUT HITTING HIS/HER HEAD OR EARS.

The last four weeks of the class will provide foundation clicker training, rear-end awareness, swish poles, backing up and downs, tug games, spins and twirls and other foundation games that can be used for competition obedience, as independent games, and as a way to help burn off some of your dog's pent up energy. Learn how to interact with your puppy in a fun way that helps him/her use their brains in a positive way.

Prerequisite: All dogs must be under total control on and off leash.

Limited to 9 dogs per evening – this is a “drop-in” class and is open to all.

10 minute time limit per dog.

Open to all dog/handler teams who are preparing to show in Novice, Open, and Utility obedience classes. All dogs must be under total control on and off leash. No actual exercises will be taught in this class. This class is designed to offer coaching on what is and is not acceptable in the obedience-show ring, along with actual ring experience for the dog & handler. All exercises will be called as actually done in the AKC show ring. This allows dogs the opportunity to work in a very distracted setting similar to an obedience trial/show. Instructors will be assisting students throughout the class. Students must own and bring to class a current AKC rule book. Rules and scoring will be reviewed. While treats/toys may be used in the ring, this is not an instructional class for learning the exercise, but is a preparation for the obedience competition environment at all levels, Novice, Open and Utility.

Prerequisite: none

A ring rental is for 30 minutes on Wednesdays or 15 minutes on Saturdays and back-to-back run-thrus are only allowed if others are not waiting.

AKC Urban CGC requires that the dog demonstrate CGC skills and beyond in a setting that includes traffic, crowds, noises, smells and other distractions that are present in a city or town. As with Canine Good Citizen, AKC Urban CGC is a 10-step test of skills that dogs must pass to earn the official AKC Urban CGC title. This is a title that appears on the dog’s title record at AKC.
